This might be a rather strange question, and I think we had a bit of a discussion on it before, but I was wondering how everyone actually "physically" wrote?
Do you just type it out on the computer, or do you actually write it on pencil and paper (or pen and paper) before you publish it, or perhaps you have a journal somewhere that you use?
It'd be interesting to see what others do

Wow I didn't think anyone still wrote with pencil and paper anymore!! I am a bit of a perfectionist and cannot stand to see crossed off words and such on my paper so I always use my lappy to write where I have the handy dandy delete button! LOL

It depends what I'm writing. If it's a factual article on something, I tend to do it on the computer because most of my research information is there. On the other hand if it's poetry or something in a more narrative vein, I always use paper and pen. I just can't seem to get the flow going on the computer for some reason with them so easily so I do those by hand and then type it up later.
Actually I like crossed off words on paper because it shows me where I was headed initially with the piece in case I need to go back and rethink it. I don't think I've written anything that wasn't revised from a first draft. Sometimes I just put it aside a few days then return to it if it doesn't feel right. I'm very guilty of going off at a tangent and can ramble forever!

Having just finished my book - after two and a half years - I'm thinking I will change my way of writing! With the book I would write maybe two chapters (10,000 words) long-hand, and then copy it up on the computer. This was a good way of editing. It also takes ages. I then did another complete edit when the book was finished. I've started my next book and this time I'm writing straight onto the computer. I'll see how it goes. It definitely has a different feel about it, and may be a while before I really get to feel which is best for me.

I would say most often I type. I've often thought that learning to touch-type is the single most important skill I ever acquired, because it allowed me to get my ideas down as quickly as they came to me, and I can only imagine how many thousands of hours I've logged at a computer screen in my lifetime thus far. However, I started out writing on plain old loose-leaf notebook paper, and I still like to getaway with a good notebook and a pen from time to time. Often some of my best works comes after I've sat with a good book for an hour or two, someplace nice (preferably by a window). I'll be reading quietly when suddenly something in the book will inspire me, or in the case of poetry, the poet's voice will sort of imprint its lyrical cadences on my thoughts, and next thing I know I've set the book aside and launched into my own writing. Some of my most thoughtful work has come that way--it just seems to tap into my subconscious. Of course, I'm highly attentive to the possibility of plagiarism--but in truth, it's not that I begin writing about what I was just reading. Rather, something in the author's voice just sends me off on my own, personal tangent. One thing I've never done is write on an honest-to-goodness typewriter, and I'm not sure I could.

I definitely prefer to use the computer.
Mainly because when I'm writing, I'll go back over what I've written and realise that, because of one thing or another, I've left stuff out, or been too long winded, or not ended up saying what I actually wanted to say, and have to add in/take out/completely change my sentences, which is so much easier on the computer.
However, I do like printing off a copy to edit once I've 'finished' a story.

I write best on the computer. Never really sure why, but I find that typing helps me express my personalities better than just pencil writing. Probably because I can type faster than I can write xD But yeah, normally stories or articles just randomly come to me, and I end up typing them up and saving them to edit and add to at my leisure.

I write in my notebooks, journals, or computer. I prefer notebook and pencil because I can edit and change things. I also use an outline as it gives me focus and how I will write.

I have almost forgot pen and paper after I find me to have been befriended by the personal computer. I just type on the keyboard and finish writing. Yes, at the start it was not so easy and my speed in type-writing was poor. Now it is something different. The same has happened with a few of my friends too. I have never thought that it is so easy writing something with the keybord.
